Abstract

1,206,361. Support for a patient. B. MARKWITZ and H. POMP. 10 Jan., 1968 [24 Feb., 1967], No. 1533/68. Heading A5R. A support for preventing the formation of 'bedsores on the leg of a patient is of tubular form (see also Figures 1, 2, not shown) with fasteners ,13 at both ends, the support being divided transversely into three inflatable cushion parts 8, 7, 8 and two non-inflatable end portions 5, 5, the fasteners being attached to the end portions and including a hook and a loop. As shown, the support is inflated and arranged about a patient's leg and is of a polyvinylchloride, polyethylene, or a natural rubber material. The support, which may have some transparency, may have a covering layer 12 of open pore foam rubber with channels 11 and small non-inflatable regions may be provided between the cushion parts so as to form contact-free regions between the support and the leg.
