Abstract

1,205,455. Wells, &c. ROCKWELL MFG. CO. 23 Oct., 1967 [7 Nov., 1966], No. 48095/67. Heading E1F. Well-pipe suspension apparatus comprises segments 40 mutually aligned by pins 54 and slidably guided in bowl 66 by pins 85 engaging slots 82 in the bowl. The bowl may be in halves with latch means 71 to secure them together. The assembly of segments and bowl may be dropped down a well-head along a pipe until it abuts a shoulder in the well-head with step 64, whereafter the segments descend in the bowl to grip the pipe. Alternatively, in a well-head, each bowl half is fixed to a ram movable normally to the pipe. Movement of the rams brings the bowl halves together and engages alignment pins 54 in their respective holes. Thereafter, the rams are retracted, leaving the assembly free to fall along the pipe.
