Abstract
1,205,438. Electro-polymerization process. XEROX CORP. 8 Sept., 1967 [14 Sept., 1966], No. 41089/67. Heading C3P. [Also in Division C7] Organic liquid materials having carbon-tocarbon aliphatic unsaturation are polymerized by placing the material between conductive electrodes and applying a potential difference between the electrodes. (The term "polymerized" relates to addition polymerization and includes cross-linking of polymers or monomers having two or more sites of aliphatic unsaturation). Polymerizable materials specified are those comprising ethylene, diethylene, triethylene, tetraethylene or polyethylene glycol dimethacrylate, bis (p-methoxybenzylidene)acetone azine, bis (p - N,N<SP>1</SP> - dimethylaminobenzylidene) acetone, neopentyl glycol dimethacrylate, hexamethylene - bis acrylamide, divinylbenzene, allyl methacrylamide, bisphenol A - dimethacrylate or - diacrylate, N,N<SP>1</SP> - methylene - bisacrylamide, di-, tri- or tetra - ethylene glycol diacrylate, neopentyl glycol diacrylate, bisphenol A - epichlorohydrin reaction product esterified with fumaric acid, 2,4 - dicyanobutene - 1, polymers of glycol bis(meth)acrylates, and condensation products of 4<SP>1</SP> - (# - hydroxyethoxychalcone) with styrene/ maleic anhydride copolymer. Polymerization can be effected imagewise on an electrode which can then be used as a relief printing plate.
