Abstract
1,205,297. Electro-photographic processes. FUJI SHASHIN FILM K.K. Sept.16, 1968 [Sept.28, 1967], No.43895/68. Heading G2H. A photo-conductive insulating layer 23 on a conductive backing 24 is charged uniformly by an electrode 21 spaced from the surface of the photo-conductive layer by an insulating mesh like screen 27, the free space being filled with an insulating liquid 22. The screen is made of a fibre insulating wire e.g. nylon, and may have a thickness of 56 microns'. The insulating liquid is preferably kerosene. In an embodiment, Fig.6 (not shown), the electrode and the insulating screen are mounted upon an endless resilient belt (44), a further endless resilient belt (45) having a flexible conductive coating (36) is disposed parallel with the first belt, and an electrophotographic member comprising photo-conductive insulating member (33) and a conductive support (34) is driven between the belts, the belts being driven by rollers (40-43), (46), (47). In this embodiment, the potential is applied to the insulating layer for a time sufficient for it to attain a high voltage. The charged layer is subsequently subjected to image exposure by projection, and a liquid developer used.
