Abstract

1,204,564. Sliding callipers. TESA. S.A. Nov.15, 1968 [Feb.19, 1968], No.54347/68. Heading G1M. A calliper comprises a bar 1, a coarse scale thereon composed of groups 3 of graduations, the graduations in each group being off-set from one another normal to the bar, a slide 2 having apertures 4 and 5, one edge 5 of aperture 4 forming an index for the coarse scale, a disc 7 mounted on the slide such that a portion of its perphery is visible in aperture 8, a fine scale 9 on the disc, an index 10 for the fine scale, and a gear mechanism which engages with a rack on the bar to rotate the disc 7. The disc 7 and the gear mechanism are carried by a V-yoke Fig.2 (not shown) which is mounted on the slide by an eccentric pivot 13 to allow setting of the fine scale, and is pressed by a spring 19 to cause constant meshing of the gear mechanism and rack. The width of the aperture 4 is equal to the width of the two noses of the calliper so that while side 5 serves as in index for the coarse scale in internal measurements, the side 6 may so serve in external measurements.
