Abstract

1,204,291. Sewing-machines. NECCHI S.p.A. 20 Jan., 1969 [25 March, 1968], No. 3217/69. Heading D1G. In a button sewing machine an arm 17 carries buttons from a magazine and moves in a rectangular path corresponding to the shape of a groove cam 28 an electrical contact spring 18 being provided to detect the arrival of the button in the button clamping jaws 14, 15. The groove cam 28 is located in a block 24 mounted on shaft 23 which controls arm 17 and the shaft is rotated by an electromagnet (not shown) through a rod 25. A follower 29 fixed to the machine frame is located in cam groove 28 and holds the block 24 in the same horizontal position as the block is rotated until the end portions of the rectangular groove 65, 67 are reached when either pusher 34 or pusher 35, which are spring loaded towards each other and engage a follower 32 on block 24, operates to move the block 24 in either an upward or downward direction. If no button is located on the arm 17 when it arrives at the clamping position a spring 18 makes contact with a copper bar 18 and operates a stop motion.
