Abstract

1,204,087. Digital transmission systems; multiplex pulse signalling; telephone systems. SIEMENS A.G. 17 April, 1969 [18 April, 1968], No. 19606/69. Headings H4P, H4L and H4K. Each serial n-bit word of a message to he transmitted is accompanied by two additional bits which indicate whether the word is the first (A) word or last (E) word or an intermediate (M) word in the message. The words are transmitted over three channels T 1 , T 2 , T 3 , successive words being passed to successive channels. Thus, if the first message consists of the words Z11, Z12, Z13, Z14 then Z11, Z12, Z13 are sent simultaneously on T 1 , T 2 , T 3 as shown. Z14 immediately follows Z11 on T 1 , and the first word Z21 of the next message Z21-Z27 follows Z12 on T 2 . If a message consists of only one word the additional bits (AE in word Z3) indicate this fact. The words may include parity and Start and Stop bits.
