Abstract
1,203,008. Door handles. FORD MOTOR CO. Ltd. 21 May, 1969 [3 July, 1968], No. 25926/69. Heading E2A. An external door handle for a motor vehicle comprises a handle member 2 which can be gripped by the fingers, and a lever pivotally mounted in the handle member for releasing a catch mechanism, wherein the release lever can be pivoted about a pivot pin 8 located at that end of the handle member remote from the catch mechanism and arranged in use perpendicularly to the fixing surface, to which the handle is to be secured in use, the arrangement being such that the pivoting movement is parallel to the fixing surface in use and to the handle member. As shown, a hairpin or flat spiral spacing 3 is located around the pin 8 and engages that end of the lever 1. The free end of the lever 1 is provided with an arm for connection to an operating rod of a door lock and the arm is guided by a gate 6 rivetted to the handle member.
