A shirt or like garment is packaged by folding it around a card 3, the card being provided with a portion 5 which projects beyond the upper edge of the folded garment and which is provided with a forwardly projecting tongue 6. During use the tongue is inserted between the folds of the collar of the garment, thereby helping to retain the garment on the card, and the open space 7 left by the tongue enables the rest of the projection 5 to be used as a handle.
