Abstract

1,202,217. Unravelling knitted fabric. E. BRIVIO. 25 Sept., 1967 [13 May, 1967], No. 43559/67. Headings DID and D1W. A piece of knitted fabric is unravelled by feeding the end of thread F from the fabric into the nip between two contra-rotating rollers 16, 18 which are operatively connected by gear wheels 30, 32, spring biased together by spring 38, and mounted in bearings 12 in a supporting frame B. The frame is formed of two parts 10 and 24, the lower part 10 being rigidly connected to a fixed base A and the upper part being hingedly connected by plates 20 to the lower part to allow for movement in direction x, should an obstruction pass between the rollers. Cutting members 46, 48 engage in grooves in the end faces of the rollers to prevent thread from winding around the shafts 14, 26. Curved elements 68 limit the thread introductory opening and curved plates 50, 52 scrapingly engage the rollers. Sensing device 70 effects interruption of the driving motor on breakage of thread.
