A curtain suspension comprising a rail 1 with a depending extension 2 at each end includes a device which enables curtain runners to be transferred between a waistlevel position and an operative position on the rail 1, the device comprising a curtain advancing member 9 slidably mounted on the extension 2 and provided with an aperture 10 to receive the endmost curtain hook 17<SP>1</SP>, downwardly extending control means for raising and lowering the member 9, and means for retaining the member 9 in a raised position in which it forms an end stop. As shown the control means comprises an arm 7 with a pair of resilient heads 8 slidably engaged in a slot 4 in the extension 2 and lockable therein by friction or by clamps. The lower head 8 may be omited and the arm 7 may be pivoted to the member 9. Alternatively, the arm 7 may be replaced by a pulley and cord. In use, to removed a curtain, the member 9 is lowered to draw the runners 19 into the slot 4 in the extension 2 so that the curtain hooks 17 may be removed from the runner eyes 18 at a convenient height. The rail 1 and extension 2 are a push fit in recesses 6 in opposite ends of an arcuate connector 3 having slots aligned with rail and extension slots 4, 5. The rail and extension are carried by inserts 11, with screw holes 14, fitted in the slot 5.
