Abstract

1,188,892. Suspending curtains. W. HACHTEL. 20 Aug., 1968 [15 Sept., 1967], No. 39867/68. Heading A4B. A fold-forming curtain suspension comprises a runner 10 with headed studs 14, 15 with which eyes 20 at the upper end of suspension rods 19 are engaged to provide a pivot on which the rods 19 may swing out of the normal hanging plane of the curtain, and fold-holding rods 26 to be secured to the curtain or engaged in curtain pockets, the fold-holding rods 26 extending upwardly from the lower ends of the suspension rods 19 and being connected to them by a necked portion 28 defining a hinge about which the fold-holding rods 26 may pivot away from the suspension rods 19 in the plane of the curtain. The runner 10 carries tongues 16 with eye ends 18 which engage over the upper ends of the rods 26 to limit their outward pivoting. The rods 26 may have an upwardly divergent relationship in their unstressed condition (Fig. 4). In another embodiment (Fig. 6) the fold-holding rods 26 are of channel section including holes 29 to receive securing stitches for the curtain. In a further embodiment (Figs. 7-9) a curtain is clamped between a fold holding rod 26 and a separate bar (31) provided with spaced hooks (32) which are passed through the curtain and retained in apertures (30) in the rod 26. The suspension rod may be similarly adapted to clamp curtains (Fig. 10). In a further embodiment (Figs. 11-13) the curtain is clamped in a C-section rod 26 by a tapered peg formed with a series of annular ribs (39) along its length.
