Abstract

1,202,029. Valves. CONTIGEA. 9 May, 1969 [14 May, 1968], No. 23748/69. Heading F2V. A gas control device having a rotary cock 9 and a safety valve 16 held open by a thermocouple-energized electromagnet 18 includes locking means preventing opening of the cock while the valve 16 is open. A control knob 5 has a lateral pin 7 which engages a spring-loaded detent (8) to prevent rotation until the knob is moved axially to unseat the valve 16. A spring- loaded plate 22 with a latch 19 prevents this axial movement by abutment with the casing if the valve 16 is open but if the latter is closed abutment of the plate 22 with the projection 23 positions the latch 19 parallel to the stem 6 to allow axial movement of the knob. Subsequent rotation of the knob allows the inlet 12 to be connected to the pilot flame passage 15 and main passage 13 through radial holes (10), (11) in the wall of the cock.
