Abstract

1,201,635. 635. Control systems for pulp dewaterers. DEFIBRATOR A.B. Oct.10, 1967 [Oct.20, 1966], No.46221/67. Heading G3R. [Also in Divisions B1 and B2] In a pressure-operated dewaterer 10 for fibre pulp suspensions of the type wherein the pulp is pumped from a container 46 to a cylinder 14 from which water is squeezed through perforations 24 into an outer cylinder 28 due to the pressure difference between these cylinders, the stirrer 36 for conveying the pulp to a grinder 12 is driven by an electric motor 42 which controls, via a pulse-emitting relay 44 and an electric motor 34, the position of a valve 32 controlling the discharge of the separated water from the cylinder 28. In operation, variation of the pulp concentration about a predetermined value produces a corresponding variation of the speed of motor 42 and hence a corresponding adjustment of the valve 32 to restore the predetermined value, the latter adjustment varying the pressure in the cylinder 28. Alternatively the valve 32 may be controlled by the conveyer 54 of the grinder 12, in which case the electric motor 56 driving the conveyer controls the relay 44 in a manner similar to that for the motor 42.
