Abstract

1377592 Fluid-pressure servomotor systems GENERAL ELECTRIC CO 12 Jan 1973 [17 Jan 1972] 1803/73 Heading G3P Strand-like material, such as a sliver from a carding machine, is passed through a trumpet sensor 34 supplied with fluid from a signal means 28 connected through relay valves 39, 42 to a pneumatic actuator 56 for a variable speed drive 64 in the machine whereby variations in the sensed parameter of the sliver are corrected. The extent of movement of the actuator is limited by an air-actuated locking piston in a hydraulic snubber 69 and the speed of movement is pre-set by a needle valve 78. Lights 32, 33 indicate whether the actuator is being extended by operation of relay valve 39 or retracted by operation of relay valve 42. The system may be supplied with compressed air through coarse and fine filters 14, 23, a pressure regulator 16 and a device 21 which adds small amounts of oil to the air-flow to assist lubrication of the valves. Further systems may be supplied from outlets 26a,50a.
