Abstract
1,201,008. Cold traps. COMMISSARIAT A L 'ENERGIE ATOMIQUE . Feb.7, 1969 [Feb. 9, 1968], No. 6807/69. Heading F1E. A cold trap comprises a cylindrical receptacle 1 formed by a casing 2 and two apertured end walls, a first annular liquified gas reservoir 11 mounted in the casing adjacent the casing and a second reservoir 10 disposed on the receptacle axis, the two reservoirs leaving between themselves a free space bounded by at least one surface 18 having an inclination to the receptacle axis and forming a non- linear path between the flow apertunes. The reservoirs 10, 11 which are of aluminium bronze are suspended by feet 16 or thin sheet metal 22 of low thermal conductivity, and surrounded by an insulating metal screen 24. The two reservoirs may be inter-connected by feet or fins and filled with liquid nitrogen through tubes 26, 30, a vent pipe 28 being provided. The reservoirs may have a common filling device.
