Abstract

1,107,180. Sampling liquids. BRITISH PETROLEUM CO. Ltd. 8 March, 1967, No. 10,824/67. Heading B8N. A device for sampling liquid near the bottom of a container comprises a sample chamber 10 having a vacuum tap 11 for sample removal and a sample inlet tube 12, the external wall of the chamber around the entrance to the inlet being ground so as to permit sealing by means of a perforatable disc 18 whereby a sample can be obtained by sealing the entrance to the inlet tube with the disc, partially evacuating the chamber and perforating the disc when the sampler is submerged in the liquid to be sampled. The disc 18 is attached to the chamber 10 by means of grease and is perforated via a pin 24 secured to a flexible strip 25 mounted on a carrier 20 for the chamber. The chamber is attached to the carrier by means of clips 21, 22 and the carrier is lowered by a chain 23.
