Abstract

1,200,724. Apparatus for giving flickering light effects. PRODUCTION TOOLS (OXFORD) Ltd. Oct.17, 1967 [Oct.18, 1966], No.46633/66. Heading G2J. [Also in Divisions F4 and G5] In order to adapt rotatable light deflectors for use with coal effects fires of different sizes, the light deflector, Fig.2, is in the form of a number of individual units connected together along the axis of rotation. As shown, each unit comprises a shaft 1 having, at 120 degrees intervals, three sets of parallel radially extending pegs 2, 3, 4, so that three reflecting sheets 7 may be engaged therewith by bending each sheet in front of peg 3 and behind pegs 2, 4 each sheet having an opening 9 to engage a locking projection 6 on peg 3 and being so shaped and apertured at 10 to provide the required flickering effect. The ends of shaft 1 are cut away over half their diameter to provide interengagement with the adjacent shaft 1 when the units are assembled on a common rod 13, the cut aways being staggered to prevent sheets 7 of adjacent units from fouling one another. In a modification, Fig. 5, 6 (not shown) each reflecting sheet has three blades (16 A) and is centrally apertured to engage over the reduced diameter end (18) of a shaft (17), the opposite end of each shaft (17) being counterbored (at 20) to receive the end (18) of an adjacent shaft (17).
