Abstract

1,200,388. Delivering cigarettes in orderly arrangement. H. FOCKE. 10 Nov., 1967 [12 Nov., 1966], No. 51186/67. Heading A2C. [Also in Division B8] Shoots 11 leading to a cigarette packing machine (not shown) are fed by a conveyer belt 13 from a machine (not shown) making the cigarettes, a variable-capacity looped belt 15 serving to regulate the flow. The normal capacity of the belt 15 is as shown in full lines and the extremes are indicated by dot-dash lines x and y. The belt 13 may be formed with recesses (14) for the cigarettes (Fig. 2, not shown). The belt 15 is wound in or extended, by rotation of a roller 16 controlled by a feeler 19 having a flexible end 20 which rests on the cigarettes heaped up in a magazine above the shoots 11. The feeler 19 is coupled to a potentiometer 22 (Fig. 4, not shown) forming part of a bridge circuit (23). This controls differential amplifiers (24), (25), in the circuit of a reversible motor (21) driving the roller 16. A displaceable wall member 17 of the magazine is acted on by the cigarettes so that when a pre-determined maximum number of cigarettes is piled up above the shoots 11 a switch 19 is operated, thereby stopping the cigarette making machine. The machine may also be stopped by extreme positions of the feeler 19. Cigarettes are distributed in the magazine by rotary members 33 and further rotary members 29 each of substantially square cross-section and which carry distributing arms 32.
