Abstract

1,200,358. Releasable fastenings. WARREN FASTENER CORP. 11 Sept., 1967, No. 41417/ 67. Heading E2B. A resilient adaptor for fastening a hollow member 1 to a support which has a surface to which two spaced apart male elements have been attached, each of the male elements having an enlarged head spaced from the surface of the support, the adaptor having two spaced apart slots 42, 44 each bounded by a seat portion 54, 62 adapted to be received under the head of one of said male elements, the slots being so angularly disposed in relation to one another that with a first one of the said seat portions received under the head of one of said male elements, the adaptor can be swung about such element to cause the other seat portion to be received under the head of the other male element, the adaptor also comprising means for inhibiting the withdrawal of said other seat portion from the head of the male element under which it has been received to restrain accidental detachment of the adaptor from the male elements. The slot 42 is formed in a tongue portion 46 of the adaptor and an inclined ramp 50 is provided between the head portion 52 of the slot 42 and the seat portion 54; this arrangement biases the adaptor towards the support 22 as the adaptor is shifted to seat the male element on the seat portion 54. The seat portion is elongated so that the male element can take up various positions. The second slot 44 is also provided with a ramp 66 between the head portion 60 and the seat portion 62, the ramp also serving to bias the adaptor towards the support 22. This slot also has the means for inhibiting the withdrawal of the male element engaged with the seat portion 62 from its seat portion; this is a resilient finger 58. In use one of the male element is engaged with the slot 42 by passing its head through the slot portion 42 and sliding the adoptor until the head seats on the seat portion 54; the adaptor is then flexed upwardly, the tongue portion 46 permitting this and the second mole element is entered through the portion 60 of the second slot 44 and the adaptor rotated until the second element seats on the seat portion 62; the hollow member which, as described is a trim strip is then engaged with end walls of the adaptor, the trim strip being spaced from the support by fins of the adaptor.
