Abstract

Induction furnaces.-A regulable magnetic path is arranged in shunt to the ordinary path, to permit control of the working of the furnace over a definite range without regulating the current or circuit connexions. As shown, the closed core 1 has an extension, including a pivoted limb 2 by which the shunt magnetic circuit may be opened or closed. In a polyphase furnace, a separate core for each phase may be similarly constructed, to allow of independent regulation of the phases. The inducing coil 3 may be protected by a casing 4.
