Abstract

1,199,723. Electromagnetic indicators. PLESSEY CO. Ltd. 12 Sept., 1967 [15 Sept., 1966], No. 41166/66. Heading G4F. [Also in Division H1] An indicator comprises a U-shaped electromagnet 1, 5 and a rotatable indicator member 7 which is attracted to a rest position by a permanent magnet such as 17 but which revolves to positions such as 15 and 16, depending upon the direction of energization of the coil 5, the arms of the electromagnet being asymmetrical so as to provide increased spacing when the indicators are arranged side by side. The spacing prevents flux crossing to other indicators. In Fig. 2 the arms have the shape shown. The indicator shown also includes a viewing lens 2, a lamp 14 and a spark suppression capacitor. The winding of the electromagnet may have two alternatively energizable windings to revolve the indicator in corresponding directions.
