Abstract

1,199,687. Substituted imidazolidinone AMERICAN CYANAMID CO. 3 April, 1968 [14 April, 1967], No. 16082/68. Heading C2C. [Also in Division D1] The compound of the formula is prepared in aqueous solution by reacting in an aqueous medium, relative amounts of 1À0 mole of urea, 0À8 to 1À3 moles of glyoxal and 1À6 to 2À5 moles of formaldehyde, at a pH above 7À0 and a temperature of 30‹ to 100‹ C. The pH is maintained alkaline by the continuous addition of alkalis, e.g. sodium hydroxide, potassium hydroxide and sodium carbonate. The obtained aqueous solution is used as a textile finish.
