A multilayer blanket 2 is held on an impression cylinder 1 between spindles 4 and clamp 3, which extends along the length of cylinder 1 and is actuated by a rotatable spindle 11. Levers 12 on spindle 11 act on levers 3<SP>1</SP> by way of rods 14 and 16, which are separated by spring 15 and constitute an over dead-centre mechanism. A lever by which spindle 11 may be turned acts through links, which incorporate a second overdead-centre mechanism, and is click-stopped, as well, in the open and closed positions of clamp 3.
