Abstract

In an analogue to digital converter of the type in which an unknown analogue signal is converted by a pulse shaper (Fig. 2) to a voltage pulse of a predetermined fixed duration this pulse being applied to a voltage to frequency converter, the output pulses of the converter are counted for a predetermined time the period of counting being longer than the duration of the voltage pulse. If the voltage pulse has a duration t 0 and gates connected to the input and the output of the converter are enabled for a period T = 2t 0 or an integral multiple of T, noise harmonics are cut out. The input signals to the digitizers may be from radiation detectors in nuclear spectrometry.
