Abstract

1,199,114. Waveguide mode filters. ALBISWERK ZURICH A.G. 28 Feb., 1968 [14 April, 1967], No. 9554/68. Heading H1W. An unwanted component of polarization is removed from a waveguide 1, of, e.g., circular section, by a slot 2 which communicates with a groove 4 in a cover-plate 3 of dissipative material. The sides of the groove are flush with the sides of the slot except at the ends where the slot is provided with impedance-matching sections 5 of restricted width. The groove does not extend to the ends of the matching sections and the outer parts of these sections are terminated by short lengths 6 of the surface of the plate 3. The length of the slot 4 is adjusted such that the reflections from the two surfaces 6 cancel each other. Alternatively, the overall length of the groove is made equal to the overall length of the slot.
