Abstract

1,199,110. Aminoalkyl - dioxolanes. CUTTER LABORATORIES Inc. 5 Dec., 1968 [5 Sept., 1967], No. 57641/68. Divided out of 1,197,313. Heading C2C. Novel compounds of formula (wherein n is 1-8, R is optionally substituted C 1-8 alkyl and R<SP>1</SP> is a C 5-15 substituent containing 1-3 optionally substituted carbocyclic rings) and acid addition salts thereof are prepared (a) by hydrolysis or hydrazinolysis of the corresponding 2 - R - 2 - R<SP>1</SP> - 4 - phthalimidomethyl-1,3-dioxolanes, or (b) by reducing the corresponding nitriles. 2 - Methyl - 2 - phenyl - 4 - phthalimidomethyl- 1,3-dioxolane is prepared from 3-chloro-1,2- propanediol or epichlorohydrin via 2-methyl-2- phenyl-4-chloromethyl-1,3-dioxolan. 2 - Ethyl - 2 - phenyl - 1,3 - dioxolan - 4 - ylacetonitrile is prepared from 3,4-dihydroxybutyronitrile and 1 -phenyl-1,1-dipropoxypropane. Compounds of the above formula and their pharmaceutically acceptable acid addition salts are stated to affect the cardiovascular and central nervous system and may be made up with carriers into pharmaceutical compositions for oral and parenteral administration.
