Abstract
1,198,913. Railway support arms GREENSIDE HYDRAULICS Ltd. 17 Feb., 1969 [29 Feb., 1968], No. 9771/68. Heading E1G. A curved railway rail is supported, during prestressing, by support arms anchored at spaced intervals to the sleepers, each arm comprising a steel plate 2 having a first bearing surface 4 viz. roller 8, to bear on the side of the running flange of the rail and a second bearing surface 5 viz projection, for bearing on the sleeper. Anchoring of the arms is achieved by passing pins 6, one being attached to each plate, through the rail clips on the sleepers. The arm is also provided with a nose 13 to engage over the bottom flange of the rail to resist canting. Arms for use along the outside of the curved rail may lack the running flange bearing surface but include, as an essential feature, nose 13. Adjusting means viz. lug having a vertically tapped hole fitted with a screw, may be provided on the arm at the bearing surface location 5, the nose of the screw providing a new bearing surface.
