Abstract
1,197,871. Decatising textiles. DRABERT SOHNE. 7 Jan., 1969 [26 Sept., 1968], No. 907/69. Heading D1L. Textile material (and interleaving backing) is wound on to a perforated hollow roll 4 mounted crosswise in a shallow cylindrical decatising chamber 1 having a bayonet-fitting lid 2. The diameter of the chamber may be 3.8 - 4.8 times its depth. The inner end of the cylinder may be outwardly curved to enable steam pressures of up to 4 atmospheres (gauge) to be employed. Radiant heat may be counteracted by internal baffles and cooling air supplied to slits around the opening of the chamber and a movable nozzle. The process comprises the successive steps of winding the material on the roll (Fig. 2); closing the lid and supplying steam to the roll (Fig. 3); releasing the steam pressure, opening the lid and applying suction to the roll (Fig. 4); and unwinding the material (Fig. 5).
