Abstract

[Also in Divisions G2-G3] A proportional controller for servomotor 16 comprises flexible hoses 16, 18 which conduct fluid from and to duct 24 and which are obturated differentially by arm 10 moving in response to a controlled variable such as temperature, pressure, liquid level or an electric current. The servomotor, according to the application, can control a valve, a variable speed pulley in a pump drive or a rheostat. Adjustable shoes may be provided at the sides of the hoses opposite to the line of action of the arm. The latter may swing in the plane of the hoses and have a cam for variably compressing the hoses. In a practical embodiment, Figs. 10-13, not shown, the hoses pass on opposite sides of the arm between spaced flanges thereon. A gauge (198) indicates the output pressure. A variable plug controls the escape from the outlet hose.
