Abstract

119,696. Acetylene Equipment Co., (formerly Acetylene Illuminating Co.), and Fox, L. M. Oct. 10, 1917. Blowpipe burners.-An oxy-acetylene or like blowpipe burner is provided with a tip interchangeable with the welding tip to enable it to be used for cutting. The cutting tip A carries a union nut A<0> by which it may be secured to the body of a blowpipe-burner in place of the welding tip. The additional oxygen for the cutting passes by a spring-controlled valve C, having a thumbpiece C<0>, through a conduit B leading to a central passage B' in the nozzle. The mixed oxygen and acetylene &c. pass from the injector A<x> to an annular passage in the nozzle surrounding the additional oxygen passage. The conduit B may be so arranged that the oxygen is preheated on its way to the nozzle. The Provisional Specification describes a so a modification in which the pipe for supplying the additional oxygen is c.ipped or otherwise attached to the welding tip with its open end contiguous to the outlet aperture of the tip.
