Abstract

1196357 Heat insulating vessels ALADDIN INDUSTRIES Inc 26 March 1968 [30 March 1967 14 Dec 1967] 14426/68 Headings A4A and AC5B Food and other articles are stored or transported in a plurality of stacked insulated trays, each of which has a plurality of dished portions in its upper surface and corresponding inverted dished portions in its lower surface so that the stack provided groups of vertically aligned compartments, there being substantially no insulation between the adjacent compartments of any one group. As shown, the tray comprises spaced upper and lower walls 2, 3 with foamed plastics insulation 4 therebetween, the upper wall having a plurality of dished portions 8 to 11 for receiving foodstuffs, further dished portions 14, 15, 16 for other articles, a flat portion 13 for bread and a system of grooves 21 which surrounds the portions 8 to 11 and separates portion 8 from the other portions. The lower wall is dished at 18, 19, 20 to provide clearance for the foodstuffs and has a system of tongues 22 which rests within the groove system when the trays are stacked. In a further embodiment Figs. 3 to 6 (not shown) in which the number and shape of the dished portions are different from that described above, disposable plastics liners are provided for some of said portions. The liners have, as shown in Fig. 7, projecting rims 54, 55 which are compressed by a flat surface on the bottom of the superposed tray when the trays are stacked. The upper and lower walls 2, 3 of the tray may be omitted, Fig. 10 (not shown) or replaced by a plastics coating, Fig. 11 (not shown). Suitable plastics for forming the walls 2, 3, the insulation 4, the coating and the liners are specified.
