1,195,611. Concentrated urea-formaldehyde solutions. KARL FISCHER APPARATEUND ROHRLEITUNGSBAU. 21 Feb., 1968 [5 May, 1967], No. 8541/68. Heading C2C. Concentrated urea-formaldehyde solutions are prepared by treating methanolic formaldehyde, obtained as a reaction product resulting from the dehydration and oxidation of methanol, with an aqueous methanol urea solution and rectifying the urea-formaldehyde solution thus formed. The process is suitably operated continuously and the rectification step is preferably effected under reduced pressure. A suitable form of apparatus for carrying out the process is described.
