Abstract

1,195,362. Double glazing. VALDANE Ltd. 29 June, 1967 [14 April, 1966; 12 July, ,1966], -Nos. 16338/66 and 31205/66. Heading E1R. A single glazed frame 10 with pane 12 is converted to a double glazed window by a spacing strip 16 e.g. of polyethylene having a rebate 24 for receiving the second pane 14, the assembly being rendered water tight by means of a flexible sheet 20, e.g. of woven fabric impregnated with a water .proofing adhesive solution, and laid around the inner peripheral boundary wall 10 of the space between the panes 12, 14 and engaging the panes all round their marginal edge portions 30, 34. A finishing strip 18 engages with the interior side of the pane 14 when the latter is seated in the rebate 24. A desicant holder in the form 'of a the 42 sealed at each end by a cap and accommodating a perforated tube 58 containing the desicant has two flanges 44, 46 forming a duct 52 which is in communication with the space between the panes 12, 14, when the lower flange 46 is up against pane 12 and the pane 14 rests on the upper flange 44 against a lip 48, when this assembly replaces a part or the whole length of the strip 16 and finishing strip 18. In an alternative embodiment the holder takes the form of a drawer (Fig. 6).
