Abstract

1,194,854. Unstacking. DAWSON BROS. Ltd. 21 March, 1968 [2 March, 1967], No. 9833/67. Heading B8C. To unstack a pile of crates A, B, C, the crates are raised by feet 16 on vertically slidable lift assemblies 14 (one only shown) so that holding feet 32 on fixed brackets can engage the second bottom crate B, as shown; plates 26 then move inwards to grip the bottom crate A and the lift assemblies 14 lower the latter on to a removal device, e.g. a conveyer (not shown); the lift assemblies 14 rise again, to engage the feet 16 with the crate B which is released by the holding feet 32, so that the remaining crates can be lowered for the crate C to be engaged by the holding feet. The crate B is in turn lowered on to the removal device, and so on. Pneumatic servos 18, 24, 30 under the control of limit valves actuate the feet 16 &c. in sequence, and a pneumatic servo (not shown) actuates the lift assemblies 14. The removal conveyer is driven intermittently, in sequence with deposition of a crate upon it. Two unstacking machines as described may be arranged in series, with a single removal conveyer.
