Abstract

1,125,282. Endless conveyers. VICKERS Ltd. 26 Nov., 1965 [9 Sept., 1964], No. 45581/67. Divided out of 1,125,281. Heading B8A. Shipping containers 3, Fig. 4, are moved in the hold of a ship by endless conveyers 75, 77. The containers are raised clear of the conveyers 75 by raising the conveyers 77. Vertical and horizontal rollers mounted in guide rails 74, Fig. 7, guide the containers which have grooves in their bases for engagement by transverse bars 86 on the conveyers. The conveyers 77 are raised by hydraulic rams 100. The motors 89 driving the conveyers have magnetic disc brakes to ensure that the containers are positively located when the motors are de-energized. Pallets may be used for handling conventional containers. Control may be from a central console.
