Abstract

1,194,338. Rotary cutters. WHITEWAY ENG. CO. Ltd. 12 Jan., 1968 [13 Oct., 1966], No. 45805/66. Heading A1F. A manually supportable implement for cutting grass comprises a main frame including an elongated tube 2, a rotary cutting tool 14 at the lower end of the tube, an internal combustion engine or air motor for driving the tool through tube 2 and handles 30 attached to the top of the frame. The engine is removably mounted on tray 20 on the frame by clamps 22, the engine shaft (37), Fig. 4 (not shown), being resiliently coupled to flange 17 attached to driving shaft 12 hence driving the tools 14. The handles 30 are mounted on bars 4 and their height may be adjusted as the bracket 32 to which they are attached moves on quadrant 33. The engine starter comprises a starter reel 50 with a guard 54 which spins freely on the reel. The rotary cutting tool may be replaced by other work heads.
