Abstract
1,194,185. Fluid couplings. HOLSET ENG. CO. Ltd. 29 Aug., 1967 [21 Sept., 1966], No. 42106/66. Heading F2C. A low-slip viscous shear coupling has a working chamber full or substantially full of a viscous fluid such as a silicone oil and a T-sectioned rotor 46, 48 with its working surfaces closely adjacent the surfaces of the fluid chamber 30 in the housing 2. The latter is formed of components 8, 42, 44 secured by bolts 41, 45, and the periphery of the rotor flange 48 is formed with a helical groove 55. In a modification, Fig. 1 (not shown), the working members are formed by interleaved discs connected to the driving and driven members.
