Abstract
1,234,522. Hydraulic couplings. INSTITUT GORNOGO DELA IMENI A. A. SKOCHINSKOGO. 5 Sept., 1969 [9 Sept., 1968], No. 43956/69. Heading F2C. An hydraulic coupling comprises an impeller 1 and a turbine 2, the impeller carrying a partition 14 to define a chamber 15 within a chamber 11 defined between the impeller and turbine radially inwardly of the toroidal working space 4, and the chamber 15 having inlet ports 16 to receive hydraulic fluid from the working space 4 via the chamber 11 and bearing 10 when the coupling is not rotating, and comparatively small outlets 18 into the working space into which the fluid is centrifugally forced on rotating the impeller. In this way the starting torque exceeds the working torque value by only 20 to 30% for endless belt conveyer drives.
