Abstract

1,193,988. Polyurea-methanes. GOODYEAR TIRE & RUBBER CO. 22 Nov., 1967, No. 53125/67. Heading C3R. [Also in Division F2] A shock absorber (see Division F2) consists of a diabolo-shaped body of polyurea-urethane which may be produced by the following method. Orthodichlorobenzidine and/or methylene bisorthochloroaniline is reacted with the reaction product of a mixture of 3,3-bitolylene-4,4 diisocyanate and a polyester obtained by condensation of a carboxylic acid and a hydrocarbon diol. The polyester is required to have a molecular weight of 1000 to 2500 and the mol ratio of di-isocyanate to polyester is required to be 1.8 to 2.0. An example is: 500 parts (by weight) of the condensation product of a mixture of ethylene glycol & propylene glycol with adipic acid are reacted with 131 parts of di-isocyanate for 30 mins at 130‹ C, and 45 parts of orthodichlorobenzidine are then added. The resulting product is cured for 16 hours at 125‹ C.
