Abstract

1,193,852. Empty bottle disposal; conveyers. V. G. ELLIOTT. 4 April, 1968 [8 March, 1967], No. 10981/67. Headings B8A and B8S. In a public house, empty bottles are dropped down shoot 100 and fall into four shoots in apparatus I supported by plate 15. When four bottles rest on plate 15, contacts are made and solenoid 20 operates to withdraw plate 15 and the bottles fall into catcher 30 which descends to drop the four bottles into crate 3 gently, to form a row therein. The crate 3 is pushed forward by pusher 61 a distance of one row to receive the next four bottles. When the case 3 is full it is discharged to the right by pusher 61 while stop 84 is depressed to permit this rightward movement. A second empty case then slides beneath apparatus 1 from the left, being released by stops 53. The cases travel on rollers. Shoot 100 (Fig. 3).-As the bottles fall down the shoot 100 they are guided alternately left and right by a dolly 4 pivoted at 5 and influenced at 8. They thus form two streams of bottles which are respectively divided in two by dollies 4a and 4b (which are magnetically attracted at 10a and 10b and gravity influenced at 4a and 4b) to form four streams of bottles. Stops 53 (Fig. 1).-The four levers 53 are pivoted at 54 and carried by pusher 50 and caused to pivot by solenoid 58 so that crate 3 sliding down rollers 52 is checked by being lifted off the rollers 52 by the levers 53. A crate is released by the opposite movement of the levers 53. Pusher 61 and stop 80 (Fig. 1).-Pusher 61 has bars 65 pivoted on bar 61 and is operated by solenoid 70 and spring 71. Stop 80 has bars 84 which slide vertically up and down when bar 91 is moved left and right. Pusher 61 and stop 80 are coupled together by cam 64 of the pusher which engages pin 94 of bar 91 so that when solenoid 70 is operated the pusher 61 slides leftward beneath the crate 3 and then moves rightwards to move it one step forward, the first bar 84 being lowered at the same time so that the crate has now advanced one step and is held by the second bar 84. When solenoid 70 operates again the second bar 65 operates to push the crate 3 forward and the second bar 84 is lowered so that the crate now has advanced two steps into position against the third bar 84. In this way the case is advanced one step forward each time to receive a row of bottles till it is filled.
