Abstract

A coin roll handling machine for boxing coin rolls 22 comprises a coin roll shoot 10, a gate 32 to retain coin rolls in the shoot, a coin roll accumulator 14, and a pusher 12 to supply rolls to the accumulator. The rolls collect behind the gate until a roll is resting on a microswitch 26 to operate a four-way valve through a delay switch and supply air to a double-acting cylinder 56. The pusher 12 is thereby moved rightwards to release a microswitch 86 energizing a three-way valve to raise the coin gate 32, and deposit a predetermined number of rolls on a vertically movable platform 76. The rolls actuate a microswitch 72, causing the platform 76 to rise, and the rolls, projecting at both ends over the respective edges of the platform, force upwards two pivoted spring-loaded flaps 92. When the rolls have cleared the flaps the flaps swing out under the rolls to support them as the platform 76 is lowered. A cam 94 closes a microswitch 74 to reverse the four-way valve, causing the pusher 12 to return leftwards. The microswitch 86 is re-engaged to close the gate 32. The rolls which have been resting on top of the pusher move to refill section 20 of the shoot. The above operation will be repeated until a microswitch 70 is actuated by the top layer of rolls accumulated, causing a ram (78), Fig. 5 (not shown), to push the rolls into a box (80) on a conveyer (16).
