Abstract

A nuclear reactor fuel element is formed of fuel pencils 1 supported in the can 2 by the bracing members 3. Each member 3 is secured to the fuel element plug 6 by the stud 4 which engages the recess 5 and lies in the groove 7 round the plug. The groove depth is equal to the thickness of member 3 which may be of stainless steel or zirconium alloy.
