Abstract

1,193,745. Ratchet mechanisms. INDUSTRIE A. ZANUSSI S.p.A. 12 July, 1968 [14 July, 1967], No. 33451/68. Heading F2Q. To regulate the speed at which a camactuated pawl 5 of a ratchet mechanism makes its driving stroke, a rack 8 on a lever 15 to which the pawl 5 is pivoted meshes a pinion 9 which is rigid with a disc 10 having a cam groove 11 of star form engaged by a pin 12 on a rotatable mass 13, so that rotation of the pinion 9 by the rack 8 causes oscillation of the mass 13. Lever 15 has a fixed pivot 16 and carries a cam follower 3 which is urged against a rotary driving cam 1 by a spring 4. The oscillation of mass 13, by absorbing part of the energy of spring 4 as the follower 3 passes the step 2 of the cam 1, acts as a dashpot during the driving stroke of the pawl.
