Abstract

1,193,538. Foundry sand mixing apparatus. SOUTHINGTON MFG. Inc. 25 Oct., 1968 [16 Nov., 1967], No. 50748/68. Heading B1C. Foundry sand mixing apparatus comprises a trough 64 provided with a rotatable stirrer having blades into which sand, acid, and binder are fed in metered amounts, the mix being dischargeable through spout 74. The trough is mounted so that it may be raised or lowered, tilted, and/or pivoted about a vertical axis. The supply 'of sand may be controlled by gate valve and the acid and binder may be fed by gravity through valves 54, 128 from tanks supported on a platform 22 above the trough, the acid being introduced through pipe 30 followed by addition of the binder through pipe 32.
