Abstract

1,193,410. Rasping apparatus. H. SATO. 26 June, 1968, [1 July, 1967], No. 30526/68. Heading B2A. Apparatus for disintegrating leather comprises a scratch roll 1, Fig. 2, formed by a roll having longitudinally-extending spiked strips 18. Bands 19 are arranged circumferentially about the roll and between the spikes 17 to fasten the straps 18 to the roll surface. As described leather from a hopper 20, Fig. 1, is fed by a conveyor 8 to feed rolls 2 and the scratch roll 1. A pressure plate 3 urges the leather into contact with the scratch roll. Light weight pieces are delivered by a conveyor 5 to a further scratch roll 10. Heavier pieces are returned by a conveyor 7. Finally the output of roll 10 is delivered to a receiving station 16. A screen 15 rejects coarse material which is returned via a conveyor 6 to the first scratch roll 1.
