Abstract
1,193,259. Cooling reactors. BABCOCK & WILCOX Ltd. 20 Sept., 1967 [23 Sept., 1966], No. 42712/66. Heading G6C. In a gas cooled reactor, the concrete pressure vessel 12, houses the reactor core (not shown) and the heat exchangers 14, 16. The upper exchanger 14 is surrounded by the reciprocable cylindrical casing, 26. Coolant from the core flows through the duct 22 and, with 26 in the position shown, is directed upwards through passage 30 and downwards through both 14 and 16. With the casing 26 in the upper position, shown dotted, the coolant flow may be divided, one part flowing through both 14 and 16 and the second part flowing through 16 only. As described, 14 and 16 are a retester and vapour generator respectively.
