Abstract

1,192,712. Film packs. PHILCO-FORD CORP. Nov. 20, 1968 [Nov.21, 1967], No. 55126/68. Heading G2A. A film envelope is formed from a paper blank which folds up as shown in Fig. 2, and is formed of top and bottom panels 13, 14, side flaps 15, 16, a closure flap 17, 18, and corner tabs 11, 12. An X-ray dental film 21 is disposed on panel 14, and covered with a layer of lead foil 22. Flaps 16 are folded down and cemented on to the foil and then panel 13 is folded down, the whole assembly being cemented together to form the structure shown in Fig. 4. Thus panel 13 and flaps 16 form a second (empty) compartment in addition to the compartment containing the film 21. The assembly is opened using the stripping means shown in Fig. 7. A supporting means 25 having two parallel blades 23 is pushed upwards past the closure flap 17, the blades passing into the empty compartment of the envelope. Cutting edges 23a on the blades sever the corner tabs 11 and, as the blades are forced further in, further cutting edges 23b sever substantial portions of the side edges of flap 13. Another blade 24 is now forced downwards between blades 23. This ruptures the envelope, engaging the film and pushing it downwards and out through flap 17.
