Abstract

1,192,631. Cooling particulate materials. COAL INDUSTRY (PATENTS) Ltd. 8 May, 1968 [16 May, 1967], No. 22596/67. Heading F4U. Particulate material is cooled in a container 1 by a liquid coolant which circulates through a coil 3 located within or wound around the container, the coolant being vapourized in the coil and supplied through conduit 7 to the base of the container to fluidize and further cool the material. The latter may include active carbon and the coolant is preferably water. The container has a material inlet 9 and may be operated in a continuous or batch-wise manner; in the latter case the material may be discharged by inverting the container. A base valve 8 and a pressure relief valve 6 are provided.
