Abstract

Polyurethane foams are prepared in a oneshot process by reacting, in the absence of an organotin catalyst and organopolysiloxane stabilizer, a polyalkylene glycol ether, water, a cross-linking agent containing reactive hydrogen atoms and having a M.W. below 500 and a polyisocyanate which is a compound containing urethane imine groups obtained by reacting a polyisocyanate with a carbodimiide derived by decarboxylation of 2 mols. of the same or a different polyisocyanate, or being a mixture of a polyisocyanate with such a urethane imine or carbodiimide. Preferably, the polyalkylene glycol ethers contain primary hydroxyl groups. The cross-linking agents are suitably butane-1,4- diol, trimethylolpropane and triethanolamine In specific examples, the polyisocyanates use. are mixtures of dipheny] methane- 4,4<SP>1</SP>-diisocyanate with varying amounts of the oarbodiimide prepared from 2 mols. of the same diisocyanate.
